Meet the designer

Erik Magnussen

Erik Magnussen was born in Copenhagen in 1940. As a newly graduated ceramicist in the sixties, he started working for the then highly esteemed Copenhagen porcelain industry. Before long, he broke from tradition and created modern services with few multi-functional parts to avoid repeating the mistakes of the earlier multi-functional services.

He later applied this idea to the tabletop and furniture industries and went on to design the thermos for Stelton and the stackable chair, CHAIRIK®, for Engelbrechts. Both products are typical examples of how Erik Magnussen wiped the slate clean each time he began on a new project and started from scratch with the sole goal of improvement.

CHAIRIK 108

The Adidas Campus- in the southern German town of Herzogenaurach- has a new 60,000 m2 office building for its 1,700 employees. It's called LACES, because it is "tied" by glass bridges in the covered atrium. The design is by Kadawittfeld architecture in Aachen.

For LACES, which opened in the summer of 2011, we delivered 1,800 Chairik Model 108 chairs in the following model: Black frame, lacquered black seat shell, and inner-side upholstery in black fabric. The chairs are used for visitors, conference rooms, as well as for events.
